Located at 3320 Greenmount Ave, this charming spot brings the rich flavors of Yemeni cuisine to the city with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you feel like you've stepped into a cozy home away from home.

Speaking of the menu, Bab Al Yemen has an impressive array of dishes that showcase the diverse flavors of Yemen. Their lamb dishes are a standout, tender and perfectly spiced. Whether you're diving into a plate of Mandi or the aromatic Zurbian, the meats are always flavorful, slow-cooked, and bursting with rich spices. The Saloona - a hearty vegetable and meat stew - is another fan favorite, especially when paired with the freshly baked flatbread, which is soft, fluffy, and the ideal vehicle for scooping up every last bit of sauce.

For those with a lighter appetite or a taste for variety, Bab Al Yemen offers a range of appetizers and salads, including the delightful Fattoush, a refreshing mix of veggies and crispy bread, and the creamy Hummus that perfectly complements the spiced mains. The Lahoh, a soft, pancake-like bread often served with honey and butter, is another highlight. It’s a great way to kick off your meal or enjoy as a side with the main dishes.

While the food is undoubtedly the star of the show, the drinks menu deserves a mention too. The Yemeni tea with a hint of mint or the sweet, rose-infused Karkadeh (hibiscus tea) are both excellent choices to complement your meal and provide a refreshing contrast to the spices of the dishes.

What People's Say About Place

Basit’s hospitality is above and beyond! Even on a busy evening he managed to get us seats. I brought some last minute guests and I was worried that I’ll have to take them back empty stomach which is disrespectful. Basit I owe you for this one. Food was as always high quality in taste and high standards of service. Even after being crowded, the service was quick and efficient. Thanks to Nermen for being so amazing at her job.

First time trying Yemeni food. The food is flavorful and cooked well. Portions are large and price if fair. Food if a bit rich, so definitely not something I'd eat frequently, but I'll be back again. I'm glad that I stopped by.

Delicious, homemade and large portions. Had the Sheba combination for two, it came in a huge catering size aluminum tin and my family of four couldn’t finish. The rice alone was so good with delicate seasoning and I could hear the blender mix the perfect hummus fresh. Great hole in the wall next to the old Thai Restaurant rip

I love this place. The food is authentic and absolutely delicious. The guy at the counter doesn't speak much English but he is so accommodating and service is wonderful.

I am so glad to have delicious traditional Yemeni food close to where I live. We tried meat chunks, lamb liver, foul, and shakshouka. Both were so fresh and yummy, but my favorite is the meat chunk. Really recommend it!

The lamb fahsah was really excellent, and came with a delicious side soup, warm bread, and zahawig (similar to pico de gallo) that was both cooling and spicy, the perfect addition to this rich, meaty dish. Don’t miss their sweet and spiced tea either!

Great food, hearty and served in big portions. Absolutely loved the Lamb Haneeth as a Pakistani, it was the most delicious, flavorful, tender lamb I've ever tried on a bed of rice. Definitely recommend if you're looking for milder desi/South Asian similar style food

Also place serving Northern Yemeni cuisine. I look forward to coming back to try more of the menu. The owners are really nice. Great addition to the neighborhood.
